Making Homes Accessible for Disabled War Veterans
Project H.E.R.O. (Homes Eliminated of Restrictions and Obstacles) is a volunteer-based program created by the International Code Council Foundation to help make the homes of disabled veterans accessible.
The program works by enlisting local groups to help disabled veterans in their own communities with the goal of improving mobility to help the veteran live a more independent life.
Teams select a veteran, analyze specific needs, and create and implement accessible designs that make the homes accessible. The team strives to improve personal mobility, creating more independence and making it easier for the veteran to live in their homes.
